Strengths: Slim design (thin), Lightweight, >1 week battery life, Easy connectivity via cradle
Weakness: No expansion slots
First purchased because of rebate on foldable keyboard. Palm Vx & foldable full size (like laptop) keyboard is a winning combo over actual Laptop for writing text. Remarkable portability for those interested in writing text only (over slow speed of laptop, i.e. boot up time) Convenience & ease of use as a digital organizing tool has replace much of scratch paper & "stickie" notes.
Exceptionally small size (thin) blends into almost any outfit. This is its best feature for a PDA.
Like it and use it so much that I bought a sleek hard case to protect the small ~4 oz device. 8Mb is plenty of memory. Mediocre thesaurus took up less than 4Mb. Indeed, a unique solution to digital organization that's fun and notable for years to come.
$230 includes protective cover, cradle & power adapter/charger for Palm Vx. A PDA with identical functional as Vx costs less than Vx because of its small size. Small & elegant accessory for the internet age.

TopStrengths: Slim design, lightweight, Good screen size.
Weakness: Slow sometimes, needs some better protection for the screen, included protective cover makes the palm too thick.
It is one of the greatest PDA's on the market. Generous memory size, but it would be nice to have some more. A cool feature to include would be a vibrating alarm. They should include Vindigo with the palm like sony did, it's a must program. But overall, it is an excellent product.

TopStrengths: Form Factor, Stylish Metallic Case
Weakness: Not small enough, No Color Screen
As far as Palm devices go, this use to be the best. Now that faster, color screen devices have come to market, this is a dying breed. However, at ~$200 (9/14/2001) this could be considered a bargain compared to its peers.

TopStrengths: stable, fast, long last battery, highly portable, sleek, solid organizational device, easy sync with Outlook/Exchange
Weakness: ? none really. Could use some more memory.
Love my Vx. Just got a M505, but am thinking about switching back to the Vx. It's fast, stable, nice backlight for use in dark. Nice style, small enough for easy transportation and it's highly functional for everything I *need*.

TopStrengths: It is very light and has enough memory for more than basic requirements.
Weakness: There were no color displays when it was introduced in the market.
It is a great product. PDA's are updated very often and this one remained in the market as the top one for a long time.
I will replace it until color displays or wireless devices become a basic requirement.

TopStrengths: Size, cost, and available accesories.
Weakness: Speed, lack of expandable memory, monochrome display.
As far as PDAs go, the Vx form factor is the thinnest you will see with these sort of features(for this price, until the m500 comes down).
The Vx has also become the baseline as far as programs and accesories go. For the current price of ~$180, I think that it is definitely worth it.
The product performs exactly as specified, and I have never had any problems with it.
In the future, however, if the price of the Palm m500 comes closer to this range, it will be the better value. Also, if you go for expandable memory (SD cards) or color, there are better products out there.

Strengths: keep notes, games, a few ebooks, two databases, and my contact list with room to spare. Good battery life.
Weakness: Black and white, no way to add memory, no hardware add-ons, not at the cutting edge. Does not work well if dunked in coffee, but this is not a good idea for any PDA...
This is a good PDA with all the features you need on a daily basis. If you are not buying a PDA for an MP3 player/telephone/tricorder.. but want contacts, databases, ebooks, places for notes, this is a good inexpensive alternative to the $300 PDAs that are out there. Look around and you can find one for less than a decent paper organizer.
