Product Series: H3600
Strengths: You can install Linux on this PDA. This model includes a compact flash expansion slot. The interface seems to be better than the palm os devices.
Weakness: It is a PDA. It only has 32MB of ram. The battery life may be less than 12 hours.
I'm writing this review since I am going to get this model - or die trying. I don't think the 1 star out of 5 is fair. If everything I've read on handhelds.org is true - I'm going to use this to code hobby projects (in unix) while I commute. (I'm dropping in a 256MB compact flash card into this too.) The price with rebate is less than the 64MB versions even after you include a 256MB compact flash...
Strengths: Display, expandability, software
Weakness: Battery life, syncing, syncing and syncing...
The syncing was the biggest problem I had... After turning on my PC and conducting the first sync, no problem... If I turned the Ipaq H3635 off or took it out of the cradle, etc... it would never sync again until I went into the task manager and shut down a certain file... and even then it was a 50/50 chance that it would work. The syncing with my Palm m505 is great, works everytime! I don't know...
HP (Hewlett-Packard) iPAQ H3635 Color 32MB PDA
Strengths: Nice display. More flexible than PalmOS - It can do much more. Plays MP3s and Vids. Just plain fun. I can run my MS Access customer support database complete with forms and searchable fields.
Weakness: Uninstalling apps litters your OS with dead links. Having your life linked to Microsoft Outlook really really sucks. At minimum a 64MB flash memory required (but not included.)
If there was one 3rd party app that worked like Palm Desktop for this OS I would give it 5 stars. If anyone knows an app like Palm desktop that syncs with PocketPC 2002 please email. With the addition of a nic card an Ipaq can turn into a complete network analyzer. With a modem you can check email etc... on the road. These days not lugging a laptop through the airport is a blessing. Expect price...
